Geography

Multan District is the cultural and economic centre of Southern Punjab. Geographically, it is located in the center of country. Elevation of Multan is 400 feet above sea level. Multan covers an area of 227 square kilometres (88 square miles). Multan is located in a bend created by five rivers of central Pakistan. It is built on a mound just east of the Chenab River. Multan District is surrounded by Khanewal to the North, Vehari to the East and Lodhran to the South. The Chenab River passes on its Western side, across which lies Muzaffargarh. There are four tehsils of Multan i.e. Jalalpur Pirwala, Multan City, Multan Saddar and Shujabad. Nearest major cities from Multan are Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur and Muzaffargarh.
